I am an Abagatan (Southern) Ilokano writer and cultural educator from Barangay Bagong Tanyag in Manila by way of Ganatsekwyagon (Southeast Scarborough, Ontario). At the University of Souhern California, I am an Assistant Professor of American Studies & Ethnicity. I wrote a poetry collection called Rouge, which was published in October 2018 by the good folks at Mawenzi House. With my friends and fellow writers Téa Mutonji (Shut Up You’re Pretty, 2019) and Natasha Ramoutar (Bittersweet, 2020), I am editing a Scarborough-centered literary collection called FEEL WAYS. Every Saturday, I teach Filipino martial arts in Scarborough. I completed my PhD in History at the University of Toronto in Spring 2019.
